My name is Jared Valdez and I am a doctoral student at Alphacrucis University College in Australia, home to the Australasian Pentecostal Studies Centre (APSC). I started the AC Valdez Project as a way to reach out to the world to collect stories and materials about my great grandfather AC Valdez Sr. while doing a dissertation on his life at Faulkner University. After completing the doctoral coursework and becoming ABD, the project was temporarily paused during the pandemic due to life-work time constraints. I continued my doctoral studies in 2024 at Alphacrucis under the supervision of Rev Prof Jacqueline Grey, PhD, Professor of Biblical Studies.

My interest in AC Valdez Sr. goes far beyond academics. I want to preserve and share his incredible life and legacy so that the world can know more about him. I think this “old sage,” as he was called, still has much to teach us all. If you have a story or materials to share about him, no matter how insignificant they may seem to you, I want to hear about it.

My goal is to complete the dissertation under the guidance of leading researchers in the field, followed by publishing a book on AC Valdez Sr.’s life and works. But I plan to continue to collect materials for as long as I am able. So, it is never to late to contact me.

More about me: I live Philadelphia with my wife (a public school teacher) and son. I currently work at PA Humanities (a state humanities council). I received a Bachelor of Science degree summa cum laude from Drexel University and a Master’s from Pennsylvania State University.
